Basic Carp Tips??

Featured Replies

Hey guys, I'm looking to catch some carp this year, don't wanna do much more than just cast out and let the bait sit there. I'll be fishing in a really weedy, clear lake in the Kawartha's, Ontario. There is a very healthy population of carp. I'm wondering what kind of baits to use, I've tried corn on a hook with no luck, what are your suggestions? Anything is appreciated, thanks!

I use corn exclusively and based on my experience I would think it's more likely that you haven't been fishing where the carp are as opposed to a refusal to take the corn.

But another bait I've often seen used successfully is cereal, such as Wheaties or Bran Flakes. Take a handful, immerse and squeeze out the extra water until it's the consistency you want.

There are also lots of doughball recipes. Just Google those two words or carp bait recipes and you'll get plenty of hits.

Try Googling "UK carp fishing" . Carp fishing in the United Kingdom is almost a religion. They can be as fanatical as we are about bass.

Also pay attention to any mention of "boilies" baits.
