narrow canal bassin

Featured Replies

my buddy lives near a 10 ft wide and maybe 15ft deep canal. i have tried fishing there on a junebug zoom and had two bits but thats all.

the canal is in south fl with the typical blackwater around florida. you can see bass, panfish, and some gar swimming around. the is sometimes alot of vegitation so what weedless lures would you guys reccomend??

gambler cane toad firetiger or zoom horny toad(junebug)

gambler 10in worm june bug

5in senko plum

5in swim senko black and blue with a 1/4 oz bullet weight

any creature bait in a dark color

I fish the same stuff in the same place, I have great luck using white 3" jerk baits, bass Oscar, tilapia, bream, and gar all hit it, the 4 foot divers work best for me.

The unweighted senko t-rigged is a standard.  Very weedless yet deadly.  A swimming worm, also rigged weedless (texas) with a light weight.  I prefer the swim senko.  Horny toad type baits, need a bigger hook but is also rigged texas style.  Buzz it alongside, above and through the weeds.  A ribbon tailed worm, like a culprit with a little weight (we often use screw in sinkers down here). Then the sluggo or fluke t-rigged.  I too fish in weedy Florida conditions and these baits produce well for me.

I don't live in Florida, but the baits that work here in my canal are ;

1-Trick Worm in Candy Bug. Or *** Finesse Worm in Watermelon Seed. 1/8 or 3/16 oz bullet weight.

2-*** Ripper Worm in Red Shad or Watermelonseed.

3- *** Trick Sticks in Baby Bass, Watermelon/Purple Swirl (similar to GYCB's PB&J).

4-Double willowleaf spinnerbait.

In Cali, I fished a REAL canal,..lol, 5 ft wide, maybe 2 ft deep,....LOADED with starving bass.  RedlineRobert and I had a ball for about an hour drawing strike after strike with a buzz frog.  Loads of fun.

t-rigged 3in senko

senko slim on a shaky head

spinnerbaits

is what I would use in those weedy conditions.
