JJ's magic

Featured Replies

I seem to be having some problems with this stuff.I don't know if it's too strong or what, but it's repelling the bass here.

Dipped it on a beaver bait(just the claws) and not a single bite...changed it out with just a regular beaver without the JJ's magic i started getting bites.

Is it possible that scents can turn a bass away on days they may not want it?

I'm scratching my head on this one.

I have never heard of somthing like that, hmm?

Well if JJ's dosn't work, give Berkly's scent a try, it is all i use.

How long are you soaking the bait in JJs?

A few seconds?  A dip and run?  Ten seconds? The entire bait?  The tail, only? What color are you using?

I have never had any fish avoid my bait due to JJs.  At least I have no idea of any fish avoiding my bait due to JJs.

Try it again and send an e-mail to the boys at JJs. They are some of the nicest people in the world and they will be glad to help you with your situation.  ;)

Dipping the entire tail or claws to get that chartreuses color for about 5 seconds. Then wait another 15-20 seconds before actually casting the bait into the water.

I'll give JJ's a holler and see what he suggests.

I've wondered about that too...if JJ's is too strong. I really don't know one way or the other, but I will say that just because you were getting bites without it and didn't get bites with it doesn't mean JJ's was repelling them. There are too many variables to factor  ;)

Could it be the color of the dye?  What color bait were you using?  I think the best test would be to use the clear version if you wanted to say it was the scent that drove them away.

That's what JJ said as well....I coulda swore i replied to this. ;D

However that chart. color is working awesome in a river system i'm fishing.I'm getting completely opposite results now...if it ain't dipped the fish don't want it.

That's really weird.  We just had a tournament this weekend, and had the exact opposite results - the fish wouldn't hit our baits UNTIL we dipped them in JJ's.

We threw several times in one spot without a bite, dipped it (soaked the entire bait for 5 secs, then let it dry), and BAM!  Immediate strike.  We were using the clear color, so it's obvious the scent made the difference.

We used Megastrike too.  And although Megastrike didn't seem to produce more strikes as above, the bass obviously held onto the lure longer - as much as 30 seconds before setting the hook!

And in head-to-head comparisons, squaw fish prefer JJ's.  ;D
