Got the scoop, BASS-ABA Series Schedule

Featured Replies

Just out ABA-Series schedule is out. What do you think?

Yet again they left out Michigan.

I see they went back to 5 tournaments, and fishing on Saturdays. This is a conflict between their schedule and the BFL schedule( each have a tournament at Kerr the same day)

I would stick with the BFL, why would you pay 2 memberships to fish 1 trail when they can't even get

all the info out like they should. I heard the new moto for ABA is "It's all about the angler" I tried to get on their msg. board but you can't unless your a member.Kinda like buying a new car ,you like to test drive befor you buy,if they wont let you test drive it there must be something wrong with it.You can read every other board out here without being a member. Is it me or does something sound a little fishy? :-?

That could get ugly.

Did you see the BFL Piedmont Division schedule? It's terrible unless Kerr is your home lake.

I havn't attacked any one on this forum, so why do you allways respond back negative things about me . I only state things I know of first hand mabe to keep someone else from jumping the gun and get them to see both sides of the coin.I know you are associated with the ABA so you don't want to hear anything negative about them. They are far from perfict and anglers should know about the good as well as the bad so they can make their mind up .If the org. was so great ,I never would have left. Now that they have taken over the BASS Weekend trail don't you think those anglers have the right to know both sides?

it smells fishy  :P can't get on message hmmmmm, are they trying to hide something befor you join. i had a buddy from Illinois tell me the samething.

The way I understand it ,it's a pay to play deal. I don't need to be a member of any trail to fish .I have fished most all of them at one time or another.I just wish the guy's in the BASS weekend side the best,I think they are getting a raw deal.If the trail owners would remember who pays the bills mabe they wouldn't mess things up so much.(if a frog had wings)you know what would happen.

I would think being a Director, that you would have a more substantial input.  An explanation, guidance, a sample of leadership, somthing,...other than just a snide remark.  You are a representative of the affiliation under discussion.

putput- Perhaps the site has discussions that are considered "privaledged" and are to be shared with members only.  Private boards do exist, I wouldn't take it personally.  However, the information you seek should be attainable through other means.

Good postI think you're right on target. The guy is a representative of a big organization, you would think an ABA director wouldn't slam folksmaybe that's why ABA turnouts are on the declineOK, maybe it's ...uhhhh....gas prices...

Yea, but I didn't want it to sound like a reprimand, That is just my opinion.  Didn't mean to sound harsh Texbass, I'm sure you deal with this stuff all the time and may be burnt on it.

Well, Putput I paid my $25 to ABA. I can't say anything about how they run a tournament since I've never fished any of their stuff. But if your a tournament fisherman another $25 is just another drop in the bucket. You also said you have fished most of the trails and you didn't need to be a member? I know BASS, FLW, Championship Teams, Hooters, ABA, Fisher of Men all requier membership prior to fishing.

i think what he is saying he can fish for fun and not fish tournments. if you payed two memberships to fish one trail you got fooled. and the members pay the bills. without members you got no trial. and i agree with that.

I've been a member and read a couple of the boards.  Definately nothing to fork over 25.00 for.  As far as the TD's response.  Doesnt surprise me in the least.  But I guess this isnt the direction this thread needs to go eh?

Back to the thread... I was thinking of travelling to fish this new series to give it a try but a couple of dates in the closest trail to me conflict with the BFL.  Forcing anglers to pay 2 memberships then force them to choose between trails.  Not a good combination, intentional or unintentional it is still not a good thing.

Put-Put, I'm not sure if you can or can not read the message board without being a member. The best I can advise would be to call HQ at 1-888-203-6222 and ask if there is a read only option.

The rules and registration dates have been released.

Put-Put,

Sorry that was catty. You must register to be read the message board. There is a guest board for non ABA members. Call HQ and you can get access.

just found out i got kicked off the aba message board. they must of seen something they did not like. oops. and i'm a payed member! never posted anything negative on their board. nothing on it anyway but directors and old members kissing butt to get in the hall of fame. no info at all. unlike this board, you can get all the info you need. guess i won't be fishing with them next year. theres not a ms. district anymore the director quit (he got kicked off the message board too.) theres so many other trails to fish. i'm not orignaly from ms. i'm from Illinois. i got alot of friends and relatives that fish tournaments in wi. in. il. and they don't like what they are hearing. its a snow balling affect.

Nitro, you must be a bad man, they kicked you off just for no reason?. and yes I'm the fool who is paying two memberships to fish one tournament trail( as you put it ). If you don't join them they wont be around for long. Don't bad mouth something you know nothing about.

i did not call you a fool, i said you got fooled. i know all about the aba been there done that. and still a member. and talk to people on the inside or (in the know).

I guess I got fooled too... I just joined ABA, paid my $25, and I can't wait on the new year to get here so I can start fishing the series :)

This whole deal makes no sense to me. It's nothing new though and dates way back to the way BASS treated other medial outlets and their "farm club" fishermen. They almost totally ignored their federation which should have been it's core group because they were so loyal and provided so much volunteer help and publicity through Casting Kids and Conservation efforts. Each federation puts on some type of tournements, whether it be a series or just a couple fund raiser events to go along with it's state championship. If they would have tried to bring the Federation back into the fold and had them run the weekender series, ESPN would have effectively pulled back many anglers into it's fold. Sure, there would have been problems, but I guarantee there will be problems with the ABA too. I know our director here is incompetant and few want anything to do with him. I don't know him personally and don't mean to attack him, but you can only hear so many stories without taking caution.

This is just another step that wasn't thought out very well be ESPN in my book.

ESPN had this all well thought out, If it don't make money get rid of it. and they did just that!!
