Elite Series ?

Featured Replies

I thought that the purpose of the Wild Card tournament was for anglers that hadn't already qualified for the 2007 series to get in. If that is so, how did Guy Eaker get in, his Day 1 catch was a DQ and he finished 16th, and I thought only the top 10 at the Wild Card got in the Elite Series. And what about Velvick, did he finish in the top 81 last year to auto qualify because I see he is listed for the 2007 season?

Did these guys qualify via other means or am I missing something?

Edited to add: I am not trying to bad mouth or single out either of these guys, they just caught my attention when looking at the list.

I was wonder the same thing about Velvick.  Maybe BASS felt sorry for him this past season and let him join again since they are heading West to his home waters.

Bass said that if any one of the top ten anglers could not fish next year they would fill up the field from the anglers that didn't make the top ten in the wildcard tournament by going down the list from 11th on down till they fill the list for next year. So apparently Brian and Guy were able to come up with the money and the angler before them opted to not fish or couldn't get the money.

Makes sense, thanks for the reply
