Weigh Bags and Juice

Featured Replies

8-)

Well my club has a rule this year that all fish in the the live well must have some kind of "juice" in it to keep the fish calm.

They were talking about JungleJuice at the meeting which i never heard of before. What type of livewell additives do you guys use?

Also, we each must have our own weigh in bags, which means i will have to purchase one. I checked out the ones on basspro a few minutes ago, but im open for suggestions on other brands. I would like to buy top quality wiegh in bags/additives.  :D

Thanks -WM

Please release me works well. Bass Pro has nice weigh -in bags. The shop that sponsors me gave me a nice one with their logo on it and all, dont know where he got them made.

Please Release Me works great, also Rejuvenade.

I got a real nice weigh in bag from Daiwa when I bought a reel. It is clear, padded handles and has a strap that closes the top to stop fish from jumping out.

Don't get the Black bag from Academy, its okay during cooler weather, but long weigh-in lines in the summer and direct sunlight will warm the water up fast and take Oxygen out of the water fast.

Matt.

Rejuvenade

JT Bagwell

If you go on B.A.S.S. web site and read there 20 pg fish care deal they will tell you to use non iondized salt . Thats pickling salt available at any food store.

The type of "juice" all depends on what kind of fish you are going after. Garlic bases products have been shown to cause negative side effects on fish when they are used for extended periods of time, which is not good at all. I always have used Please Release Me, which is the older version of what you purchased. You have the new spiced up formula to help promote slightly healthier fish.

I didn't know that additives were to calm bass.I have used rejuvinade in the past.I don't think it calms them down, instead it makes them feel good and lively. The problem I have with Rejuvinade is that it causes the fish to puke up most anything they had eaten before they were caught.I have heard that Please Release Me doesn't have this side effect.I haven't tried it for myself yet though.

thats the problem with the garlic based products exactly!!! They cause fish to get to hyperactive, spec, smallmouth and has harmful side effects on them. How many times have you added it to the livewell and had the fish go crazy in there? Banging on the walla like you just said and that's not good for any fish. The garlic in the products ticks the fish off and when they are already stressed how would you like being irritated? The seditive formulas calm the fish down, help prevent stomache regurgitation, and replace slime coating so I don't understand why more anglers don't use it. I'm just a big fanatic on proper fish care and they are still not being cared for, spec on the great lakes and it makes me very upset, please consider using please release me or catch and release formulas and keep ice in the livewells to lower the water temperature by about 5 to 10 degrees don't over due it though and our sport will be preserved for years to come

I have no idea what John is talking about with reference to garlic. Please Release Me and Rejuvenade are made to be added to the livewell to reduce stress and remove amonia from the livewell. I was told by a fisheries biologist that when fish get nervous or stressed they urinate in the livewell and ingesting it can kill them. I was also told rejuvenade help puts the slime coat back on a fish that has been handled. I do agree with putting ice in a livewell but if it has a lot of chlorine in it, that too can harm the fish.

Maybe he can tell us what garlic based products he was refering too?

Garlic based products simply contain garlic. The point is that they irritate fish and cause smallies to become too active in most causes and the fish harm themselves. Please Release Me is a calming agent not an an agent to make bass active. When the fish are already stressed from being held in captivity they should be calmed. Also, yes the formulas remove amonia and chlorine from your livewells. I guess post a question for Doug Hannon he uses the Please Release Me, I'm sure he can tell you much more about the products. All that I know is that the fish were becoming too active in the livewells of people that I talked to that used Rejevenade and the fish were coming injured, but again ask Hannon.
