KVD AOY

Recommended Posts

I watched the live feed today. I don't know if it was me but did not see Todd congrat (handshake) KVD after he weighed his fish, instead he walked right off stage after stood beside KVD. If its really what I saw then the guy has NO class.

I think it's probably best to give Faircloth a pass on that.  He was emotional.  IF he didn't think to congratulate KVD at that moment, he certainly will later, once he gets his mind straight.

I happen to know Todd. He is ALL class. Don't read into this without knowing all the issues. It was probably done in the parking lot before the final weighin. You will not find a nicer guy in the fishing communitity.

Yeah, I was backstage at the tanks both before and after the weigh-in, and Todd knew he didn't have what he needed from the start. He was truly gracious in defeat, even though the ESPN folks hustled him off the stage as quickly as possible. Viewers may not have been able to see it, but he congratulated KVD both before and after the presentation. Both of them are class guys. (I saw KVD out on the water today, and he jokingly motioned for me to bring him a beer, which I would have if I'd have had one.)

Todd is a true gentleman, and though it had to hurt to lose AOY, he made quite a few new fans in Syracuse with how he handled it.

No way Todd would ever diss Kevin, they are too good'a bud's . But I did think Kevin showed a real touch of class yesterday when he actually was doing as much or more guiding for his co angler than he was trying to place higher in the top 50 standings. He knew that there were other fellow Elite anglers that were trying to place higher so that they might make the Classic cut, so he backed off and gave them their head.... Now thats a Real Class Act from a Real Class Act!

Yup.  True class from the best bass angler alive.  Kudos, KVD.

The guy is just on a whole different level. He's in that Tiger Woods zone of both skill and mental capability. He's beaten most of the guys before the boat ever touches the water. He's the king of homework, lake research, and reading situations/conditions.

I met him on Lake Norman last year at Ryan Elliotts NASCAR charity tournament and he just has a look in his eye that says "I know what's up and that's about all there is to it".

He by the way literally on foot chased down and killed deer with a knife that had been hit by a car on HWY 150 in front of the tournament launch site simply to put it out of its misery as it was busted up pretty bad. Surprised? I was til I saw the pics on a buddy's camera phone. It went down and it was a humane thing to do. That's a classy guy right there because he wasn't being "showy" he was doing what was right and was willing to get dirty doing it.

The guy is a sportsman, a true competitor, and a champion. He's the real deal so to not acknowledge him and pay the respect due is just disrespectful and doesn't hold much water. People might not like him but they can't deny him. It's fun to be part of his era and learn from the best.

Super news.

He seems like a very nice person and his books and DVDs are excellent.

I am very happy for him and his family.  :)
