Jay Yelas moves to Ranger

Featured Replies

As of Jan 1st, Jay is now running in a Ranger.  He'll still be using Yamaha outboards.  I have to admit, it'll be weird to see him fishing out of a Ranger and not a Skeeter anymore.

Man Jay is an Amazing guy. Great christian guy which is a HUGE plus to my list. And you can just go and talk to him. But Brandon Culture of FLW his tesitmony is AMAZING. Sorry to get off topic.

Hum....wonder what happened between him and Skeeter?

Money?

Skeeter pulling back from sponsoring the pros?

Ranger really needs Yelas and made him a very attractive offer?

Inquisitive minds would like to know.

Maybe I will ask KVD or Alton Jones or some of the other pros at the Richmond Fishing Expo this weekend, if I can remember.

Thanks for the update.

Having Yelas pimp for Skeeter gives that manufacturer lots of credibility and losing him can make for some interesting discussion.

Jay is just 'playing the game' I suspect.  With FLW and their sponsor incentives (Chevy Trucks for Jay) and pay out structured in favor of Ranger owners, it unfortunately makes sense.

I would not say that Skeeter is pulling back (maybe... I don't know) since they did become a boat sponsor for the Elites last year.

X2---he can win an extra $500,000 in the Forest Wood Cup in a Ranger
