Biffle's Comments about BASS...

Recommended Posts

I have been lucky enough to have fished with Tommy Biffle a few times and thought he was really laid back and easy going, except when driving the boat. But I read this in an interview he had with another site about BASS and how they go about determining who will fish with the past two tournies having canceled a day...

"They need to get their act together and do everything the same all the time, because it's real unfair. It's nothing but for TV. It's nothing like it used to be."

Hope he doesn't get in trouble for that one... :o

No, I don't think he will get into any trouble.

He is offering his opinion.

Just like Tony Stewart blasting Goodyear last year.

It is the truth in both cases.  If the bosses don't like it they can stick it.  :)

fishing is the same as all other sports, it is all a business now not really a sport anymore. ever since espn acquired bass, it has went downhill, tv, thier magazine all of it.

I don't blame him a bit.  Something need be said.   I think they could have done a little better job of dealing with the last couple weeks too.  Oh well, I'm sure they will learn from it and get better.

They are still a good time to watch and with some of the new coverage such as bass cast and stuff they are trying to make it better for us too.  I can appreciate that.

Its the truth BASS used to stand for something more. Now its a faceless corporation like other professional sports. The decisions now only depend on one thing $$$$.

A few things I noticed.

-Bassmaster magazine went downhill-the articles are smaller and in larger font with less info and fewer, the tournament coverage is terrible only 1 small paragraph so you have to buy BASS Times, the magazines are overall alot smaller, and the magazine only talks about whats big in the BASS tournaments (FLW is now a better at all of these)

-Fewer tournaments this year same costs for pros and less total payout

I think FLW is slowly getting closer to passing BASS. The worst thing to happen to BASS is getting picked up by ESPN.

I'm not sure what Biffle is referring to, but BASS makes no decisions based on the TV show, the TV people are there covering the event and are as out of the way as possible. BASS makes the calls on their own, the TV crew is only there to cover it.

does anyone else feel that everytime you read an article in bass that they are just trying to sell you somthing... gotta love the articles in the first few pages of bass times that berkley obviously pays for...all the pros favorite baits at whatever time of year are berkley this or berkley that..yes i like alot of berkley stuff too but they could try and make it a little less obvious...

it is written on the top of the page " paid advertisment"

so how can they "make it a little less obvious"

make it a little less obvious...

Make what less obvious? That they sell advertising? :-?

Careful Burley.....He can whoop Bill Dance in a tournament and leap tall buildings in a single bound.
