Multi-Fish Type tournament Rules, need your opinions

Featured Replies

This spring/summer a few of us are going to have a "couples" tournament where the women can fish with us for a day or so.  The lake we will do it at has striper, sand bass, smallies, largemouth, pretty much anything that lives down south.

We were trying to figure out how many fish you can keep to weigh in.  Maybe 4-5 LMB or SMB, then 2 sand bass or crappie, and maybe 1 striper or rough fish.

Also we trying to think if all fish would weigh the same, or if you caught a bunch of crappie their weight would be times 1.5 and maybe a striper or if someone caught a catfish would be half the weight since they can get so big.

So any ideas?????

How about limiting the number and being able to chose one of your fav type of fish to catch. Something like 4 LMB, 5 SMbass, 8 (or more) Crappie, 2 catfish etc. It sound interesting if you figure out how to make it fair.

Another idea is to go by catching diff species, who ever catches the most multi species wins.

When we do small buddy tournaments with multiple species we disignate it by points. We use length often but it works with weight too. For Example a LMB between 12 and 14 inches = 1 point, between 14-16=2points. Crappie 9-11"=1point, etc. It works out pretty well and everyone enjoys it because people can fish for whatever they want. We will designate a total # of fish allowed to weigh in. Usually the number of the minimum allowable bag size.

My club has a "trash fish" rule that allows for props for species other than black bass.  A complication over the years has been that stripe don't do well in livewells.  We came up with a "digital photo" option for the stripe...But even that has it's issues because getting everyone to follow the rule correctly is a problem.

I like Jepu's idea.  Assign points for each specie.
