First Tournament, BIG ONE!

Featured Replies

So me and a buddy of mine are gonna be in the Sealy Outdoors/McDonalds tourney at Lake Fork. he's been bass fishing for 15 yrs or so, and he just got me into bassin about a year and a half ago. i'm hardcore in it now. my question is, have any of ya'll fished fork and have any tips? i'm watchin the fork reports weekly, think we have a game plan, but it's a lake we've never fished. how, as a complete amature do you do a tournament blind. there's gonna be all the locals who have their spots, so i guess what i'm asking is, do we have a chance? i think we do, i'm not saying we're gonna win the whole thing, but i think we can do some good. i got confidence in my fishing partner and myself, but this is, from what i've gathered, the fishing Mecca of Texas. (and possibly the US.)

First get you a fork boat lane chip from Lance vick. fished the Skeeter Owner's tournament in july and there were lots of boats damaged from underwater objects. If you don't know how to run the lake watch out and have your insurance up to date.

Let me know how you feel when you boat a 7lb 10oz. and can't weigh it because it's too short. Everything 16-24" must be immediately released.

Launch at the ramp in williams creek. fish the right side going out. Lots of docks, pads, and grass with deeper water nearby. Go out to the mouth and turn right. fish the pockets to the right. Has a good roadbed running across it and there should be lots of nice fish stacked in that area. There will be lots of boats in the area. Just get in among them and get after it. Everyone will be catching fish.

Good luck.
