College division of ABA

Featured Replies

I was just curious if there were any other college anglers in here that fish in the CAST (Collegiate Angler Scholarship Tour) division of American Bass Anglers?  I fish for Kansas State Univ.

I wish we had a team here at KU.  If it wasn't my last year I would look into starting one. :(

Yea, it really is a great setup.  Hopfully one will be started at KU eventually.  Pitt st. and butler county recently started up teams.

I am starting one at Hutch Community College, from people I have been talking to I think we might have a full team! cgs2004, what division in Kansas do you fish?

Pretty soon I want to get one started at the University of Illinois at Chicago. However, it's my first year there so I'm trying to get settled in right now. I've done a bunch of research and talked to some other clubs so I have some good info. Hopefully it will turn out well.

man i wish i knew about that earlier.  like KU_Bassmaster im in my last year.  oh well

The more teams the better!

Univ. of Illinois-Urbana has a team. Cujo, I see your from Tennessee, Univ. of Tenn. has a team as well.

Will- My home district is 61, but I also fish some tourneys in district 66 and 58. I try to fish Grand (district 65) once or twice a year as well. You have to pick a home district just for reference purposes but it doesn't mean you have to only fish those tourneys. Your points are based on your 4 best 1 day tourneys and your single best 2 day tourney combined from any amount of districts.

Just if you all are interested, heres a link to a list of all the college teams as of the beginning of this season  http://www.americanbassanglers.com/castschools.php

baylor will be in it next year, im getting one started here and we have some pretty talented guys.

Well cool!  The more teams the better!  Texas is a good place to be for competing in the ABA.  You'll have tons of tournaments to choose from down there.

I believe they don't have one there yet.  You should definatly start one there.  You have lots of tournaments close by.  Grand, Hudson, Eufaula, Tenkiller; not bad bass lakes!

If you need any info about starting one let me know.

Hey that waht I plan on doing at the University of Illinois at Chicago but I've been told by a few people that you may need to wait till the second semester. I guess they want you to get settled. And bixbybasspro send me a pm if you wanna talk about starting a club maybe we can compare and share info.

I don't think you have to wait until the 2nd semester.  We just finished the 2005 season with the National Championship and 1 day tournaments for the 2006 season are already starting.  I think you can start whenever you can get it all set up.  The ABA offices will be very helpful to you.  I believe they have an 1-800 number.

Oh, my mistake bassdocktor, well I hope to see you all at some tournaments in the future!
