Rage Tail Chunk vs Craw

Featured Replies

So, I picked up some Rage Tails last night and had a question about these two.  The craw and the chunk are the same price for the same amount.  It appears that the claws are identical between the two.  Why would one buy the chunks when they can get the craw for the same price?  If you want to use the craw as a chunk you can always tear some of it off, but you'd have the entire craw for fishing by itself.

Are there any other differences between these two?

I think the chunks use a more durable plastic.  the craws are also really durable but the chunks have always stayed in one piece until i lost my jig.

I think the chunks give you the opportunity to use them on smaller jigs. They also hold up etremely well, I have already caught 6 bass on a jig with the same chunk and it still looks like I could use it for many more bass.

The craws and lobsters can be fished by themselves.

But can't you achieve the exact same size chunk by just cutting part of the body of the craw down?

I went out and bought a few more packs.  I picked up a pack of chunks and will be comparing the two.

4.19 at Sportsman's Warehouse in Memphis is too good of a price to pass up.  These things are over $5 a pack at home.

This is just my experience with them, although I'm sure other jigs work differently. I cut a ragetail craw in half because I ran out of the chunks, I used it as a trailer on a booyah baby boo jig, and due to the "hook indent" you know, the hook indent for rigging, such as the indents that come on softplastic frogs. Well because of that indent, the chunk slid up and down the jig alot, I had to keep pushing it back up.

So I'm sure on jigs that have trailer holders there wouldn't be a problem, like terminator jigs for example. But as for jigs that use a standard "bend" in the lining of the jighead, such as booyahs, and many others, you might encounter the same problem as I did. Maybe fishing glue would solve this problem all together... if you have any of that.

For sure the Rage Craw is great as a jig trailer for varying both the length and bulk of a jig which also alters the fall rate etc.

The Rage Chunk has a smaller defined body for a lighter more compact presentation yet provides the exact visual action and vibration as the craw. The narrow chunk body allows more distance in the hook gap to assist with hook up ratios which becomes much more evident when using smaller jigs.

Hope this info helps you a little tyrius...
