Cavitron Buzzbait wanna-b

If they come with silver blades then yes I would buy them. If Cavitron would make silver blades they would sell in my neck of the woods.

Not very close to a Cavitron.  The bend in the wire on the Cavitron is a lot different.

Later, :)

The best compliment to a product is someone trying to copy it- There are people that sit behind desks all day long and try to figure out how to beat their compitition. They have no innovation nor can they think for themselves. Most of them have never even gone fishing. Kinda sad. With that particular bait -they aren't even close- There are to many differences but I get the hint. No big deal.

I do not see how this is copying a cavitron?

Cavitron didn't invent buzzbaits......they tweaked a design that's been around for a very long time.

The term innovator belongs to guys like Lauri Rapala, Fred Young, Jim Heddon, Bobby Garland, Darris Allison, etc.....

JMO....Cavitron modified an existing basic design, but that doesn't make them "innovative" to me, it just makes them good at what they do. They had to copy somebody else's original thought and modify it to get where they're at today.

Yeah, Stringjam thats exactly what I was thinking.  Dont get me wrong I like Cavitron buzzbaits but I dont think they are so innovative that they are being "copied" by Booyah.  Cavitrons are a tweaked Buzzbait IMO.

Its a good point but you have to be innovative thinkers to see where you can improve an existiing concept or idea. As I stated in the previous post -there are no real similarities with that pipsqueek -bait. Heads that have been around were designed more like spinnerbait heads-they were not hydrodynamically designed-they did not  produce lift or plane quickly enough- the bodies were to high in the water column which allowed for more missed strikes by the fish(not the angler). Thus the bend in the wire at correct angles. Blades were treated to give more sound and commotion. It all comes down to "tweaking " or improving a concept or design for more productive results. But ya still have to see where the original concept can or needed to be improved. Believe me its not rocket science-Its time in the water.

I agree.

FWIW....I think a lot of guys here would be surprised at how much fun it is to make some of this stuff.

I make my own buzzbaits, spinnerbaits, and jigs. One of my friends and I experimented several years ago with different wire shapes and head size/blade combinations on buzzbaits and came up with a bait that worked(s) extremely well for us.

A 1/4 oz. head with a blade designed for 3/8 oz. baits, and forming the wire to put the body WAY lower than typical designs. The bait can be crawled extremely slowly.

It's a lot of fun, and I think a lot more people would get into it if they knew how relatively easy it is to get into (and a good way to save a ton of cash if you want).

Once we figured out what we liked, we poured a ton of them - - - I'm still on the initial batch I made about 12 years ago... ;D

String-SHHHHHHHHHHHHHH -I have to put my son through school LOL

Where did you order your supplies from?

Hoe does the Hook Tie to the wire?

Any Pics?

Thanks

I'll dig some of them out of the boat Sat. when I hit the lake and get some pics for ya - - been awhile since I've thrown a buzzbait (I've been addicted to crank for some time now...)

I bought everything - mold, wire, lead, blades, hooks, etc., from a local tournament-geared tackle shop that stocked a lot of building supplies (it's very popular around here). Keep in mind - this was some 12 years ago - - the internet retail gig hadn't really kicked on yet. I don't think Stamina or Jann's were even online at that time.

As far as the hook/wire connection - I just bent the wire around the hook eye.
