Mattlures perch techniques

Featured Replies

First of all, I almost feel like snapper g starting all these threads, but...

This post is directed to you New England anglers who have some experience with the Mattlures perch.

In what situations do you use this bait? I haven't thrown it much, but when I have, it's been mostly in open water situations where I know there are bass, and in lakes where perch are part of the main forage. I've been using a slow, steady retrieve, near the surface and down near the bottom, without much luck.

What can you experts suggest?  :-?

thats exactly what i do... make sure to find that offshore structure... humps, grass beds, wood, rock fields.  make sure you bump that stuff slow, and reel as slow as possible without losing tail kick.  sometimes i give short speed bursts.

also pitching it into laydowns and giving a yoyo is very effective but the bait tears easily with this technique
