Quirks of the 1st tourney

Featured Replies

Sat March 31st.  Our first ladies club tourney of the year.  Due to the large #'s of crappie fisherman we were launching at the private ramp in my subdivision.  I'd been catching nice bass all week.  I knew where they were and what they wanted.  Fishing in my front yard. Get ready Risa (the lady fishing with me). It was gonna be a good day!  Boats had been zipping since 5am.  Most were chasing the crappie.  We headed to the north side of Blood River, to the backs of bays.  As soon as I dropped the trolling motor I knew the day wasn't gonna be like I'd dreamed.  It wouldn't turn.  We decided to head to a close resort to tie up and try to check it out due to the wind.  Not that I had a clue what I was doing...turn this, screw that.  No luck.  On signal on the cell.  We had no choice but to head in.  Bummer.  We located another boat and watched Bur land a nice 4#er.  Double bummer.  We let them know we were going in.  After loading the boat, closer inspection found a broken linkage cable or whatever it's called.  No shops were open. We decided to make the best of it.  We got some minnows and fished from the bank.  It's great living within site of the lake.  Bur won, a 2-11,2-9 and the biggest was a 4-7.  Shucks!  After a quick 5 hr trip to Nashville, I'm back ready for the chase.  The day wasn't a total loss, we caught some crappie and I finally bought that Tmotor I've been needing.  Look out next time Ladies!!
