Topwater aniticipation

Featured Replies

I was fishing from shore yesterday with a Zell Pop and as I was chugging it, I saw a huge wake approaching.  It was probably 12-16 wide and 2-3 inches high, not the standard v-wake at all.  I was about to pee my pants!  I stopped the popper and the wake approached it and with the tiniest slurp, took it under.  As I reeled it in, it felt really heavy, but didn't fight much.  When I landed it, it was a huge turtle.  It was probably 12-14 inches in diamter.  DANG!  Oh well, maybe next time.

yeah big turtles can move surprisingly fast.  i caught a monster using a horny toad last year.  scared the crap out of me when i saw this huge head come out.

did you get your zell pop back?  i dont like to get my fingers too close to big snappers lol

Yeah, I got the popper back.  The darn thing was snapping at me the whole time, though.  I didn't have my pliers handy because I was bank fishing.

Don't you just love that! i mean except for the turtle part. but the huge menacing wake!? thats awesome.

One of the coolest things I have ever seen, bar none, was a huge fish chasing a trout on the surface for about 30 seconds. SOOOOO COOOOL!!!

I still think it would be fun to catch a turtle on a popper though!

that is soooooo cooooooool.  I love it when that happens.

Reminds me of a time..........Long ago and far away. (Long Island)

I was fishing my all time ever best lure.  A one of a kind Heddon dying flutter.

I cast to a narrow shallow cut and saw two topedo wakes heading for the bait from opposite sides.

They each got to the lure about the same time. There was this holacious explosion in the  water.

Turns out Two big pickerel zeroed in on it and blasted it, and each other at the same time.

It was really somethng.  I think I had both of them hooked for a brief moment, but I did land one of them.

I wish I still had that lure.......................sigh............oh well.  :'(
