I bought a bps xps topknocker bait at blue cypress lake last year but have never used it.

I was throwing a chug bug under overcast skies this afternoon.  the bass were sort of swatting at it, but I couldn't hook anything.

I figured I needed a little fine tuning so I pulled out the topknocker.

It lit em up.  Nothing of any real size but I got a 2 lber and had alot of fun.

It is a walking bait, but that chubby shape pulls it under water pretty easy.

I experimented with retrieves and found that a very "bouncy" walk with short left to right moves was what the bass wanted.

I wanted to post this because BPS makes somes great baits.  We are enamored of the "name" baits, and now the Japanese imports have captured the imagination big time.  But BPS, especially the XPS line is made of high quality components, has nice looking finishes, and catches fish.

I had no intention of buying this bait, but when I went to Blue Cypress the folks in the store, were freindly and helpful, I bought a map, but felt I should spend a few bucks more so I got this and some of the old gambler screw in weights that I like so much but are no longer made.
