Mid Day Fishing :(

Featured Replies

Ok I never fish in the middle of the day and thought I would give it a shot. I was out fishing from 11:00AM-2:00PM. Just got back now. The result for the entire three hours of fishing in the 85 degree heat was two dinks. The fish this time of the day will not take any bait it seems. I started the day off with a senko which usually produces fish and good size ones as well. I threw this bait for the first hour with no bites at all. When I went round the back side of the lake where you can see all the way accross to the island in the middle I often saw good size 1-3 pound bass take long looks at the senko but they would not even touch it. I walked all around the small lake to places where I usually hammer the fish in the evening on senkos without a bite. I then decided to downsize my bait and try a fluke. I fished it both slow and fast. I had a bite after about 20 minutes but when I set the hook I just ended up throwing my fluke over my shoulder. I fished it for a while longer figureing they were at least takeing this bait and ended up catching a small bass round the back of the lake where I first started throwing the senko. After that I got no hits at all. After that I had no luck for probably another 30 minutes and gave up on the fluke. I decided to slow down my fishing even more and try a 4 inch robo worm and fishing it painfully slow. I fished it for a while with nothing before catching another small dink that was probably around 8 inches. A short while after this my head began throbbing which it still is now. Anyway this is the reason why I hate fishing at noon. I dont catch much. The only reason I went out at this time was because I have school this evening and wont be able to fish. Anyone here have any tips on fishing at mid day in the heat.

Here is the pic of the larger of the two dinks....what a monster...I think im going to have this one mounted

Tips on mid-day heat fishing........find shade and take a nap. j/k ;D Nice fish!!

I usually fish real slow with plastics or chunk crankbaits on steep ledges.  I get a few this way when it's really hot with blue-bird skies.

its better than getting the skunk ;D

My sentiments EXACTLY!!!
