Newbie Outing @ Lake Amador Ca.

Featured Replies

Hello guys I am a newbie to the world of bass fishing, but not to fishing. Just wanted to introduce myself to say hello, give my short story and say this is a great site.

Like I said I am a newbie so this is my third outing in search of bass. My first a disapointment :( my second a learning experience and now my third a great experience. I have read and reserached alot about bass fishing from my first outing and it paid off the third time ;D

Well I landed a nice 3-4lb largemouth bass, no joke. It happened as the wind turned and the flow of the water started comming in my direction. I was on the bank with my nephew. He went up to the lodge to get a drink and bam a good fight followed. I was working a 5in. senko slow and bounching it off the bottom as I retrieved slowly. I felt a lite pull and I set the hook, the fight was on. My reel screamed and the bass jumped and pulled. At one point my senko flew off in one direction and I thought I lost him but he was still on. As I tired him out I thought, how am I going to land him. I had no net and the shore was so muddy that to walk on it you would sink. At that time my nephew came running and with his help we landed him.

I was excited and so proud of my catch. I have fished halibut, stripper, trout, salmon, perch and nowhere did I feel such excitement and joy as I did fishing, fighting and landing that bass. I did release him and took my time to make sure he was good to go. My only disapointment is that I did not have a camera to take a picture :-[ Either way I will always remember that day and now I have the bug.

Thats my newbie story....

Thanks you guys for all the information, tips, reviews, techniques, they have help me a lot and I am still learning..

WELCOME TO THE BEST FISHING SITE ON THE NET.
