Single Willow leaf spinnerbait vs Double Willow leaf

Featured Replies

I always have thrown single willow leaf spinnerbaits with some good results. But I recently bought a double willow leaf spinnerbait just to try something a little different. So my question to you is, when do you choose a double willow over a single?

What is the advantage/disadvantages? Just trying to find a general idea of when I should choose the one spinnerbait over the other. Thanks for any help  8-).

for me, most of the time i use a single willow leaf for standard conditions.

a single willowleaf will give me more depth where as for the DW, i will run it just under the surface. a DW will allow you to fish it faster and it's great for weedy areas as the blades won't get caught up in it.

the blades are for how you want to fish it the lure (fast, slow, etc) and the skirt is for the water conditions. just pick and choose combinations that best fit.

A single willow is the ultimate for heavy grass.Comes through cover the cleanest. It is also the fastest blade and or combination, good for burning and running deep.Bad for slow rolling. In other words it gets a lot less lift when retrieved as compared to a d-willow,or any type of colorado.

Remember again the size of the blade whether single or double in combination of the weight of the jighead dictates the overall speed and depth the bait can achieve. You need smaller blades OR a heavier bait to go deeper.

A single willow can be good in clear water also.Less flash and more speed.Sometimes you don't want the fish to get a real close look at the lure, just to react to it as it speeds by.

If any of this makes sense ;)

Spinnerbaits can be as complicated or simple as you want to make them.
