Bottle Pod

Featured Replies

Went fishing solo on Saturday and caught one bass nice enough to photograph. I struggled to get the camera to sit still on my tackle bag while I tried to work the timer and eventually just settled for a shot of the bass at arm's length and released her.

The experience got me looking for a better way to mount a camera when fishing alone, so the next day I headed to Wal-Mart and found this thing. It's called a Bottle-Pod and it mounts over any water or soda bottle. It has a quick release, and has a pan and tilt mechanism. Best of all, it only cost $3.67...Sorry for the pic quality (camera phone)

On Sunday I went hiking with the girls, and I brought the Bottle Pod for a test run. I really thought it would be tippy, but it worked perfectly.

Later I experimented with putting it on a 32 ounce bottle of 2 cycle oil. That made a very stable base for using in the boat.

Two thumbs up for the Bottle Pod.

nice find man, i have that problem when fishing alone too, now i just have to pick one up and figure out the timer feature!!

Hey thanks for the heads up! I use a mini tripod for my camera when I'm fishing alone but that thing looks really cool! Might have to pick one up just to leave in the truck for "photo emergencies"!

Nice tip, man. I'll be looking for one of those, ASAP.

Nice looking family too. A whole flock of girls!! How the heck do you find time to fish?

Cheers,

GK

Cool find Daniel and beautiful family!  (My bro has 3 girls, I know your pain, lol)

Thanks for the kind words about the family! It can be tough to get time to fish, but we work it in, along with everything else. The best thing we do is "Family Day".  Sunday is family day.  The kids don't make plans with their friends on Sunday because they know they have to spend the day with us. If it's nice out we'll go to a state park, the zoo, 6 Flags, or sometimes even fishing! When the weather stinks, we'll cook up some snacks and watch a movie. I never feel guilty about fishing on Saturdays, because I know I'll make it up to them on Sunday!

If it works that good on a 20oz water, think how good it would work on a 32 oz or 40 oz bottle of brewsky!!   ;)  All in fun!
