Busch Wildlife 1-6

Featured Replies

Today me, some buddies, and my dad went fishing at Busch Wildlife. Well we finally started fishing at about 8:30, b/c every lake we went to had ice on it...we fished till about 1:30...And all we cought is one fish. It was so hard fishing b/c on just about every lake, the wind was blowing a constant 25-30 mph, so hard it was making us walk sideways...The 1 fish we cought was in the little pond above 35, and was on a slow rolled spinnerbait. We went to 35, and man that lake is DOWN!!! and the wind had even picked up more...With the wind, i couldnt fish a jig effectivly, so i was fishing a jerk bait and crank bait...I had a small one on a x-rap, but nothing else...but on the dam on 35, their was so many dead fish...a huge dead muskie (which cut my thumb on pretty bad b/c we got a pic of it and claimed that we cought it lol.) and a ton of bluegill & shad.....but like i said, the wind was brutal. Here is me holding that muskie like a dummy, and my cousin actin like an idiot in the background...lol...even though the fishing was terrible, we still had fun as you can see.

My first thought "Oh dear god, that boy's lipping a muskie!"

That's some funny stuff (sorry 'bout your thumb). ;D

Way to brave the elements, even if the fish weren't cooperating.

I've been going out to BW for around 35 years. Lake 35 used to be one of the best LM lakes in the area. That lake has a leak in it and the water level goes down about 1" a day if there is no rain. In August of 2006 with the low water and the hot weather there was a fish kill and alot of hawgs went belly up.

lol yeah i saw the teeth before i did it, and thought i could be the tough guy and do it anyways...lol....yeah we didnt even get a bite (except for that little one) at 35...just @ the little pond above it.

BassXL, if you look at your picture with the muskie, in the back ground, that bank that continues around the dam, it drops off into about 15 to 20 feet of water. If I was fishing from shore, that would be the place I spent most of my time during the winter. It has the steepest drop (bluff like bank), deepest water and you can fan cast the whole area. Just a thought ;)

Needemp, why do you have to lie to the guy!  ::)   You haven't seen how low it has gotten, who knows how deep it is there now.

Early last spring it was around 22' deep.  By the looks of it now I'd say maybe 15 to 18 feet deep.
