Jitterbug in fall?

Featured Replies

I love to fish the black arbogast jitterbug at night time around may & april(one of the most exciting ways to yank bass)...problem is is it seems like i can only use it then. anyone using these things now? any luck around fall?

The Jitterbug is my favorite topwater and I use it from spring through fall in conditions ranging from midday sunshine to lower light, but I don't fish at night. Yesterday I caught four big bass (big by my standards, not yours) on one in a small pond with 55° water.

I don't know if this helps; I think conditions where you are might be a little different from where I am.  ;D

I would use them in the fall except the lakes here are all covered with fallen leaves, too many snags to deal with. Topwater is over for me, not that they wouldnt work, just not worth the hassel with all the leaves. :-/

They have weedless jitterbugs out there also if you're will to give em a shot, their hooks are like the dual frog hooks where they are only facing upwards.  I used one of these when fishing through these islands of weeds we have in VA.  They're fairly weedless, the only problem I have is hookups, these darn VA bass have a hard time locking in on it and they'll either completely miss or not take them under
