IS TODAY THE DAY??? Help me make it so....PLEASE

Featured Replies

Im thinking today may be the first day of the season for me where im not just casting aimlessly....i have been fiending out like a addict over here...

its been 40-58 degrees the last 4-5 days, and i think the temps in the water may have finally warmed up....i live in the philly area...

Here is the weather today:

     sunny

57 degrees....20 chance of precip

now i AM FISHING TODAY NO MATTER WHAT...

but what do you think would be the most productive for a shore fisherman???

1) marsh creek- a large style lake with deep middle water

2) french creek- a medium size lake with shallow middle

3) schuykill river- fish for smallies

i know my descriptions suck but im not really that kind of fisher (iim wokring on it)

ANY HELP WOULD BE MORE THAN APPRECIATED,

i have heard x-raps work well when the weather first breaks, but my confidence is in soft plastics and jigs

THANKS SO MUCH

Personally id try the smallies but im in pittsburgh and it will be probobly about 3 weeks before i will try on some of my favorite lake.  To make my addiction feel better i get to go down to north carolina to do some pond fishing then when i come back i will fish some ponds up in pittsburgh then start lake fishing in mid april.

whaTS IT like in pittsburg right now?

id rather hit up a lake personally because i did fish a few times in the last fewq weeks in the schuykill without ANY action at all....none

Gottcha! My Friend Danny feels the same. I like to fish live bait once in a while especially using worms and crickets for bluegills, brings back the days of my youth. I do not fish rivers as much as lakes but maybe someone here, probablly RW might know of a good minnow bait for this application. Dress warm temps dropping like a brick here again :'(

without reading RWs post, i am going with his advice....

hes gonna say fat ikas.....and i am gonna agree....this will be my first time using them....

I caught my biggest Smallie ( without a scale, so i aint claiming wieght) with an Ika , Black ,reversed on a 3/0 Owner wide gap, based on what he posted and a bag of them that Avid sent me.I caught it on the St.Regis River in Lawrence County NY, by Canada. Going back with a scale this year!

Schuykill river is high and muddy around black rock area so it is probably high everywhere.go to marsh creek, probably your best chance for catching bass.senkos, flukes, jerk baits good early choices.on the river spider jigs, brush hogs small crankbaits.good luck
