My outing with my nephew

Featured Replies

i have been promising my nephew taylor i would take him fishing all week.  so yesterday we went to walmart and got him a real "mans" pole.  i bought a berkley cherrywood 5'6" light and a mitchell avocet II reel for it.  its actually a pretty nice setup.  anyway today i only worked a half day so i picked him up early from school and we headed out, but not before stopping to get some snacks(funyuns, his choice) and drinks(water, my choice)  we got there and it was non stop action from the first cast to the last.  we caught a ton of blue gill!!  he did all the work besides the casting, and we split the difference on baiting the hook.  he did great and not any complaints from him for about two hours, then he said he wanted to go home, so we left.  it was great and i really look forward to molding him into a fine young angler.  here are some pics of him and a couple of me when i went out later without him.  i caught the bass and crappie both on a spinnerbait.

Taylor's shaping up to be a fine fisherman.  It's a sure bet with a great uncle/mentor such as yourself.

I like seeing these posts that include people taking the time for youngsters.   I bet he spent the rest of his day bragging about those gills.   Kudos to you.

cherrywood rods: maybe the worlds greatest $20 rods! they are great!

From the look on his face and they way he's holding that fish and pole, I'd say you have a hard core fisherman on your hands.

great job man.  that's what it's all about. :)
