Pond fishing

Featured Replies

Got the rare opportunity to do some pond fishing today.  A man we worked for building his porch roof has a pond and he invited me to bring a fishing rod to work with me today since it was the last day we would be there.  I only fished it for about 20 minutes but in that time I caught 5 fish, 4 bass and one pumpkinseed panfish.  Largest bass was only about 15 inches long but for some reason it seemed to fight much harder than they do at the lake when they're that size.  So it felt much larger than it was while I was fighting it.

It was an enjoyable experience though, and he said I could fish longer if I wanted to but this pond has a reputation for producing several fish quickly and then drying up for several hours after that.  No more bites at all.  Seems they go tell their buddies not to bite after being released.  I think it has something to do with hormones released into the water from scared or stressed fish myself.
