My first bass tournament

Featured Replies

Well this Sunday is my first bass tournament. My fishing partner and I have been fishing together for a year now, and we think we will make a pretty good team. He has done many pro tourneys on the BFL, FLW tours. With his teaching over the past year we feel ready to try a tourney.

So with that said I am looking for some advice. The tourney is on a reservoir in north western Ohio which I have never fished. It ranges from 5 to 45 feet deep. My biggest concern is the weather. It will start raining today and into tomorrow, letting up with possible T-storms on Friday night. Scattered showers on Saturday, with heavy clouds forecasted for Sunday with temps in the low 60's the day of the tourney.

Any thoughts, comments, and strategies would be appreciated.

Do you know the water temps? Most likely they will be 55-60 range. I would check main and secondary points. Check the flats close to drop steep drop offs. The fish have been acting funky so far. I would also try to find the warmest water the lake has to offer. I would probably be fishing jerkbaits/jigs. Wear some good rain gear and have fun! ;D
