Spruce Run Camping/Fishing Trip

Featured Replies

Hey guys This past weekend I organized a camping fishing trip for my freinds at work and there kids.  We had a good time I taught the kids how to build a fire, cut wood, and make a roasting stick for hot dogs and marshmellows.  They were loving it. My 5 year old son loved it as well.  We got out fishing Sat.  Me and my freind Lenard got skunked but his two boys cought some perch.  There was a school there and I was throwing a crank but no strikes.

After a few more hours another freind from work came with his Bass Tracker.  So he said he new some spots in the back so we headed out.  On the way my outbourd was having problems.  I would get it going and then it would stall after a few minutes.  I beleive it water in the fuel.  Once we got there we fished for a while then headed back still got skunked lol.  Once agian my motor stalled so I called Joe back in for a tow.

On the way back in while I was being towed we seen a rental boat go over with a women, 3 year old little girl, a dog and 2 men.  I then quickly untied the tow rope and dropped the trolling motor back in to the water.  Joe sped over to them pulling the little girl and dog aboard.  I then got there threw the PFD's  and had the adults hang on to the side while I trolled them into shore. I didn't want to go over myself thats why I told them to hang on.   Then went back for the baby.

After the rescue we both looked at eachother and said good thing you came back.  I was glad we were there b/c there were other boater watching just driving by.  Even though we didn't have a good day fishing it was a great day saving those people.  I also know my freind Lenard and his 2 son had a great time outdoors for the weekend they are from New York and never been camping before so there was enjoyment watching them in mother nature.  It feels so good to give back thanks Bass Resource

Hey man that's awesome that your spreading fish fever with your buddies and their families. I give you props on the rescue. We should sign you up for the elite series. Hey man if you are going fishing in the next couple weeks give me a call. I would like to come to spruce run and meet you to do some fishing.Hopefully you want to play guide on  spruce run. Your licenses are a lot cheaper then Pa's. Maybe you could meet me at a walmart or something so we don't have to pay for two vehicles to enter the park.

Yea dude that sounds good.  You fish a big lake like the belt so I am sure you can teach me a few things on the run.  I have a map zel posted.  So we can start there.  I will call you this week bro.  Ok you can park at my house and we'll go from there.
