crankbait is a utility lure

Featured Replies

Shore fishing from a pier at a local lake today and caught a nice 2# catfish on a crankbait.  Hit the lure very soft, thought it was a tiny bass.  Darn catfish took the enire front treble, had 1 hook in the top and 2 in the bottom of the inside of its mouth, took 2 people to remove it.

I was catching bass one right after the other in the rain and the cat just hit the crank, next cast I resumed catching bass.

It was a sweet day.

I've caught a few cats on spinnerbaits and worms but never a crank. Hey, as long as it's got lips, right?

Steezy, I was cracking up when you told me you landed a catfish. I guess it is now proven that catfish will eat anything. The bite definitely went wayyyyy off this afternoon. I've not had a day like that out there period. I do not know if the fish gods didn't like us today

Here is a nice lil 2 - 2.5# that I landed before you showed up.

I have caught 4 catfish this year on a spinner bait. This was the first year I've caught a Catfish on an lure.

I hate thinking I have a lunker on and when I bring it up it's a big cat. They seem to like crankbaits here as well.

I caught a giant catfish on a Strike King Sexy Spoon.  It was really weird.

I'm starting to feel left out. Have NEVER caught a cat on anything while bass fishing :-[...

You dont want to catch a cat, there nasty to get the lure out!

I caught a 7 pd cat on a senko. The lure had just hit the water and the line took off. I thought I had a big one, then I could see the rolling wretched as he wrapped several dozen yards of my line around his nasty body. I was ticked as I hadn't caught anything all day.
