Redeeming myself for the highschool tourneys!

Featured Replies

Well I posted about the first tournament on how I got second by 9 one hundredths of an ounce which was a bummer but I did come back to redeem myself. We had about 10 boats this time a perty descent crowd of highschool boys. When I started the day out I knew that it was going to be a slow day. The low pressure system was moving out and the BP was rising so I knew I was going to have to slow down. We ran across the lake up a bayou called larto bayou where there are a few slews and creeks with camps around them. It was a long run but it was worth it. I had prefished tuesday evening and I knew there were fish here but we caught our best fish on the other end of the lake off of isolated cypress trees. With the two hours that we had to fish tuesday evening we pulled out with four weigh fish that I would be willing to say was a 10 pound sack easy. But tournament day was a different story. My first place to hit was the slew around the camps. We did get our five weigh fish here the biggest one weighing about 2.5 I hooked one about 3.5 but lost him right at the boat. >:( But I kept my hopes up and kept on fishing. The bite in the slew began to dwindle and I figured it was time to hit our trees so we headed back across the lake. We were definately fishing for that big fish bite but it never came. We only caught one weigh fish which was about 2 pounds even. I was very worried about the weigh in. When I arrived everyone else had there heads down and didn't seem to look very assured. So we scrounged our fish up and weighed them in at a meezly 8.75 lb sack which I thought was terrible compared to what we had caught that tuesday before but ended up taking first and big bass. I was surprised to win but I knew I had done well after there were some grown men (which are very well respected fisherman in our area) that only came to the weigh in with one or two small dinks :D. I was proud and ended up winning 180 dollars for first and 40 for big bass. Me and my fishing partner split it up each having 110. I was happy and now I'm phsyced for the next one
