Hats off to Fish-fighting-illini

Featured Replies

I just wanted to publicly thank Fish-fighting-Illini for introducing me to a new body of water to fish (Sorry folks, I'm not so generous with sharing this spot as he was).  Anyway, he and I met up and went out this past Friday.  The wind was blowing to beat the band and spittin' rain so it was tough to hold in one spot but we found numbers of bass (over 30) in cattails in around 5 feet of water.  They didn't hit very hard but their strong fight made up for their weak bite.  I think they thought they were smallmouth.  I can't wait to go out again.  Thanks Matt!   :)

I am about 15 minutes from ya (Champaign), if you ever feel like sharing the spot let me know!  :)

Also shoot me a PM and you can come fish on my neighborhood pond anytime you want.  So far this summer I have caught about 90 bass.

Hey this thread is a pleasant surprise. Despite the conditions I had a blast.

The fish are not huge there yet but it is a once in a lifetime kind of a place and will do nothing but get better.  We need to get my dad on the water there next year he'd love it.

Heck no need to thank me you brought the boat or no outing!

It has been a good start to a friendship that happened as a result of BassResource.com We do need to fish more often next year as we didn't pull off as many outings as we planned this year.

Hey Jeff I wonder if bwell's pond would happen to be Barb's Pond? That would be quite a coincidence ( he fishes Champaign often bwell).

The pond I fish is right off Bradley Ave. past Parkland College on the East side of the overpass...  In the summer time a buzz bait is deadly!  The most I caught in 45 min was 22 bass!
