What lures should I use on cloudy days

  • Super User

Uhh the ones you use on sunny days  ;)

Lure selection doesn't change much for me, but keep in mind that fish tend to scatter in cloudy conditions and hang tight to cover on sunny days.  That is the norm, but fish also tend to not follow the rules all the time.

Don't worry about baits but more about covering and finding the right water.

Topwaters, Black/blue Chatterbaits w/ doubletail or hula grub trailer.

And pretty much all other lures that I would use on sunny conditions, just with a change of color.

Black/blue, black, greenpumpkin, firetiger, chartruese, and other dark or highly bright colors.

This time of year I throw white or bone color baits for jerkbaits and crankbaits in clear water. Blue Glimmer skirts with silver blades also if the water is clear. If there is some stain I will go school bus yellow with brown or black back, sexy shad or craw patterns on cranks and jerks. Spinnerbaits sexy shad skirt. Jigs are brwon ,brown and brown. The chrome/gold comes out when the sun shines.
