Everglades South Report 2-18-2010

The early part of this week was cold with temps in the 40'

s and gusting N.W. winds howling most of the time. Jack and Linda Dempsey from Wisconsin were down for looking to do something fun. She wanted to see and film some alligators and Jack wanted to catch bass. Fortunately for them I had both. The winds were lying down by wednesday night so we decided that thursday was going to be doable.

The Bass Monster took us to the heart of the glades where I was sure we could accomplish both of our goals.....seeing some alligators and catching a few bass. We probably saw 500-600 alligators and Jack boated nearly 100 bass in the 8 hour trip. Both were estatic and said that this was the best thing they had done while on this vacation.

Here are a few critters that were blocking up the canal. This is a shot back in the summer, but gives a good representation of the amount of gators within casting distance of boathuntingandfishing004.jpg

Dont fall overboard!!  ;D :D ;D

Keep your arms and legs inside the coaster at all times!

That is nuts.

I went to tampa last summer for vacation but didn't see any gators.

Maybe I was too far north.

Coool pictures and great catches

Lol I know its just like that down south Louisiana and there are a pretty good bit around here especially when we are in a drought. They will all migrate to water and it is crazy. My dad told me that when he was my age, him and my grandpaw went frogging and, with about 12 gators in the water, he said my grandpa got out of the boat and would tap the gators on the head with the gigging pole to make them go under. He said he waded in the water through them just to catch a frog. Lol but the funny part is that my dad said my grandpa was scared out of his mind of beavers and nutri rats. lol I thought that story was relevent to this thread. By the way, those are some beautiful bass, they are really dark, almost black and I love that.
