Help me figure out what I learned and what to do next.

I fished this afternoon from 3:30 until 7:00 on Lake Wilson in North Alabama.  The water temp on depth finder was showing 74 degrees.  I know that is just surface temp so its just a reference.  We have had about 1 week of 80+ degree weather.  The wind was blowing about 15mph.  I caught 2 small keeper fish on a rattle trap.  1 was right on the bank in about 1 foot of water and the other one was in the middle of a small pocket about 6 feet of water.

I moved to a point a that I saw a blue herring sitting on a pier.  I caught two fish within a few cast of each other. Both fish came on a watermelon gold brush hog texas rigged.  These fish were a little larger than keeper bass.  I worked this slough all the way to the back with 3 other small fish that were holding shallow.  I start working the other side and catch about a 2.5 lber on a rattle trap.  No other fish out of this slough.

I decided to move up stream and I notice another blue herring.  I stop and fish this point and I am catching fish left and right with all of them being about 10 - 12" fish.  I see an old pier and see an old chair sitting on it that looked like someone fishes there.  So I start working around the pier and catch 1 nice 3lb in about 4-5ft of water.  Then about two cast later I catch a 4 lber in about 7-9 ft of water way out from the pier.

What should this tell me about this paticular part of the lake?  Are the bigger fish still holding off from bedding?  Or have they already bedded?  I am trying to put together all the pieces  and I need help.

Thanks

Fishing catches by themselves don't offer a lot of info. It's also about the lake, the year, the season, the week (weather trend), the day.

Much more background would be needed to make much sense of a day's catches. Get to know your lake and keep records. your knowledge and ability to assess given scenarios will increase.
