I decided to go fishing for a little bit with my fairly new baitcaster and try and catch my first fish with it. After many birdsnests I got comfortable with it again and started throwing a yum dinger. Wouldn't you know it I caught my first bass with the dang thing. A couple casts later I tangled it up so bad I had to leave and go home so I could fix it and get some work done. This creek is small and spring fed and the LM pile up in there in the summer ranging from all different sizes.

Great job. It's always an enjoyable experience to catch the first fish on a new reel. What kind did you get?

It was a bass pro shops combo for 50 I didn't want to spend much since I didn't know what I was doin and still barely do

there are many tutorials and threads about casting with a bait caster. but once you get the hang of it , it becomes natural.
