Rapala Skitter Walk

Featured Replies

After watching a Angling Edge episode on OnDemand, i had to purchase some Skitter Walks (also because one of my 2009 goals is to catch more fish with topwaters).

Anybody have experience with them?  How are they?  Pros/cons?  One thing i feared was that it was going to be too light seeing how rapalas are made from balsa, but the weights they added made it about 1/2 ounce, so i'm atleast already happy about that. (i'm getting them delivered around tuesday)

They are one of my favorite top waters.  They are very easy to walk the dog with and they account for a good number of Smallies every summer.

I love them. They have a loud knocking sound to them and they walk easily.

skitter pop is made out of balsa but I'm pretty sure the skitter walk is made of plastic.

really? Cause i know for a fact the Skitter pop is balsa...

The Skitter pop is balsa and the Skitter Walk, both fresh and salt water versions are plastic with rattles in their center. I have several of each.

I use them all the time.  They cast like a rocket and it's easy to get them and keep them walking.  The "knocker" rattle in them seems to make them go crazy.  I've lots of big smallies on them and they CRUSH it.  I use the saltwater ones too, they come in different colors than the freshwater do but the body is slightly bulkier.  They're the same length, but the body is a little bigger around.

It is a decent bait and comes in some nice colors.Very easy to walk, especially for a beginner.

I haven't thrown mine a whole lot,but have caught a few on it.I personally am not a big fan of the extremely loud obnoxious rattle it has and usually sway towards my spooks, sammy, and BPS slim dog.
