Its not huge but my personal best. Read some threads here about SPRO Frogs so went out and bought one (Green Tree) and with-in my first 15 minutes with it caught this guy. Just around 19". Oh was I thrilled, my only worry was getting over this tree limb in the way but managed. I only had PowerPro 10/2 reeled-up.

Where in Rockford did you catch her at? I'm orginally from Byron, but stationed in KY. I go home often and have been looking for somewhere to bass fish at with my dad.

1st THANKS very much to all of you.

About my hand in its mouth. This was a very lively fish flapping all over even while held. I had to get a good grip on it and its mouth was very big. ;D

I like that! Most people put the thumb in the mouth and the rest of the fingers stay out- not this time. Hahaha. That is great, man. That lake looks like the second froggiest place I've ever seen. The froggiest place was posted by another forum member and it was just completely covered in lily pads, as far as you could see. Nice job, and congrats on the fish.

Nice job and congrats on the fish and the SPRO frog helped me land my personal best also.

Ive walked by this area quite a few times and always thought I need something to toss in there. I found what was needed now itching to get back out there.

The last few days I just keep pictureing in my mind the catch of this fish. The first strike that missed and the split second following that I cursed to the second strike that caught it then the please please dont get away. There were a couple people watching that also made me think its going to get away.

Thats the thrill of fishing.

Congrats on the catch and your personal best. There ain't nothing that makes your heart jump more than a topwater bite.  8-)  One piece of advice...invest in a decent digital scale. That way you can put a weight with your catch instead of guessing. If i had to guess though, that looks like a solid 3 lbs.

That spot looks like the bees knees!!!  I just recently got introduced to sloppin' hold on tight!!!

congrats on the pb

Im thinking I need stronger/thicker line than 10/2 PowerPro for this area. There are a bunch of downed limbs and low hanging braches in the area, just hesitant to toss near them, so if an even nicer fish gets on stronger line might be needed to horse it out, away, over them.

100% agree.  I think 30 lb. PP would be ideal for your spinning tackle.  It has the diameter similar to that of 8 lb. mono.
