spring

Featured Replies

My favorite would be a lipless crankbait to cover a lot of water. Bass will kill a rat-l-trap. I also like to use a t-rigged zoom u-tale worm. .Twitching it very fast through the water. Spring is the best time to fish

In the spring I mainly fish plastics so tubes and lizards are my favorites. I also like Rat-L-Traps for reaction strikes. Dont forget the Berkely Chigger Craw either! and the trick worm!

Ya we all know senkos always catch fish but in spring they dominate.

I like spooks and large walk the dog baits.

Also big spinnerbaits.

Early spring I use a red rattle trap on 35 lb braid. (the braid floats and helps slow down the bait) I also like to use a balsa crankbait because I can slow it down without loosing action. I also break out countdown crankbaits throughout winter into spring. Jerkbaits can be killers in the spring suspending ones are best. Spinnerbaits slow rolled with a pork trailer can land you a good chunk. Topwater spook and buzzbaits also work at times. good luck

Traps, jerkbaits, big worms

i like to t-rig a lot of different types of plastics.

but i also like to use x-raps and the Rapala jsr-07

and some topwater baits.

This will vary depending on the type of fishery and whether the fish are early spring/ coldwater, prespawn, spawn or postspawn ( I'm talking majority of the fish as they don't all spawn at the same time). As a general rule during the coldwater period on clear natural lakes I start the season with bladebaits, dropshots, rattlebaits, jerkbaits & jigs. My favorite bait this time of the year are the jerkbaits if the conditions are right. I love to throw a spinnerbaits & swim jigs against lily pad stems when the water warms enough to move fish in the shallows and this is the time when soft plastics become more of a factor. As we get later in the spring prespawn & spawn phase is when I start nailing them on Senko type of baits, tubes, beavers, lizards and also small dropshot type of baits. I'll start adding topwaters in the mix and they'll become more involved as we go into postspawn then to summer. The mix of baits I use will be a little different for stained water & river systems.
