Couldn't sit inside any longer...

Featured Replies

Finally found the time to make it to a local power plant lake. Air temp 26, water at boat ramp 45 and water in the hot water arm was 72. Tried fishing a mainlake hump but didn't have much luck so I ran into the hot water arm for an hour and caught a few on a spinner bait. It sure felt good to get out again. The ice on the rod and reel got annoying though. No monsters but still better than sitting at home ;)

Try some KVD Line Conditioner on the guides. Hope to knock the ice off easier. This I am sure was better than sitting on a bucket on the ice.

KVD L&L works, so does PAM spray and Chapstick.  Its impossible to completely stop it.  I use the KVD since its the least messy.

I've never fished through the ice, I should probably take some time to try it though. Thanks for the tip I will have to pick up some line conditioner. This trip was pretty last minute. I was supposed to go rabbit hunting but when my buddy bailed I hooked the boat up and hit the road. Next time I will be a little more prepared.

What lake was that?  I have been thinking about heading to Newton...

Good to see someone catching! x2 on the KVD L&L. I don't leave home without it!

This was at Coffeen. I don't make it to Newton much but I'm sure it would be better than sitting on the couch.
