Live Magic Shad Help

Featured Replies

Hey, I got a couple of these today and was wondering, has anyone used this? Is it one of those you can just reel straight in like a normal swimbait? Any info. about it would be a great help. Thanks.

Do a search, there is a lot of info on these and there is a recent post with a link to an article on different ways to rig it. You can fish it weightless, with a weighted swimbait hook, on  a jig head, t-rig, c-rig, etc.

I stepped on that kind of bait a couple of years ago when Imakatsu launched them to the market under the name of Javallon, later Lake Fork Tackle copied the bait, LFT 's Live Magic Shad are cheaper than the original, easier to get and light years ahead in durability, however the original has better swimming action because it 's softer ( only problem is that softness causes the durability to plummet to the abyss  ;), sneeze hard on a Javallon and it tears ).

You can rig and fish the bait in many ways but if you are going to swim it like a swimbait you have to be shure that when you rig it the hook is perfectly in the middle line of the bait or it will run crooked.

IDbasser,

I went out to a small lake this afternoon and was only able to do a few casts with them till it started pouring down rain. Mine came

rigged on a jighead so I just used that and cast it out and reeled it straight back in. The action is incredible. Its a very realistic swimbait. Looking forward to catching some fish on these once it warms up.  8-)

I like to fish these baits on weighted swimbait hooks.  Different weight hooks will allow you to fish more deeper water.

Thanks for the info.  I will have to wait for a few months for the water to thaw before I can try them out. :-/
