How do you guys go about fishing laydowns.

WOW! where to start. There are many different ways to fish laydowns and many different types of laydowns.

Slow rolling a spinnerbait around and along side a laydown works. Fishing them with either a Texas rigged or Carolina rigged, worm, creature, lizard, etc.. works well. Flipping and Pitching a jig around laydowns works. Topwaters, slow rolling a crankbait, burning a crankbait or spinnerbait! The list goes on!

There really isn't any way NOT to fish a laydown. Every way works when the fish are relating to them!

Whatever bait you use to fish a laydown. Make the first few cast at the front (the point furthest out in the water) and then work your way in. Reason being, if you catch a fish off the front, it won't spook a fish laying half way or all the way at the base. Usually pick up a couple more fish this way. The opposite usually results in only one fish!

flippnfish is right on the money. Most of the time you can pick up a couple of extra fish by working your way into the cover itself. You can also work your way down if your in fairly deep water. Some fish may be suspended while others may be towards the bottom. I will usually start by hitting the outside edges with a spinnerbait or shallow crankbait and then work my way towards the bottom with a worm or tube...

Jerkbaits,finese,topwater,spinnerbait,texas-rig,jiging...thats how I do.

Big balsa crankbaits.

If I know I am going to be fishing a few laydowns, I always have 2 or 3 Spinners and 2 or 3 Cranks on the deck. Then if they dont work, my trusty Jig and pig is always close by.

A laydown is usually a fallen tree that is laying in the water.
