  1. Largemouth (8 1/2 lbs)- Spit'n'image Smallmouth (6 1/4 lbs)- Skirted Grub
  2. Don't do like I've done. I had a smoke in my mouth and came back with a hookset and it burnt the line in to! Talk about being ticked off! haha! Lesson well learned!
  3. I'm not sure about clubs in Central Oklahoma but if you're willing to travel a couple of hours South they're are some pretty good ones. They don't have meeting that you have to attend or anything. I fish Media Bass Club which is a several state club that has different divisions. They only have one division for Oklahoma. There's usually around 50 boats each tournament and if you make the classic they give away a boat!
  4. Got drunk one time at a bachelor party and woke up in my truck at a place called 4 States Fair Grounds! Apparently a buddy drove the truck under my drunken premission to go to a bull sale there! Haven't ever been back!!!! LMAO! ;D
  5. Learning to be versitale has made the biggest difference for me. Trying different things and different types of structure and water.
  6. I'm looking for that 8lb plus smallmouth no matter how I catch it, and looking for double digits in a largemouth on an artificals! Biggest largemouth was almost 9 pounds and I released her, and also released a smallmouth just over 6 pounds! I do have a 3 pound crappie mounted. Only fish that I've had mounted so far!
  7. I'm doing what Roadwarrior is talking about. I have a couple of farm ponds that are way over populated. I've been catching all the small bass and either putting them in other ponds or eating them. I talked with a guy that works for Pond Boss Magazine and he told me that was the best place for me to start with my pond. One of the ponds I'm trying to turn it into a trophy fish pond and the other I'm putting a lot of the little fish in and keeping it overstocked. Reason I'm keeping one overstocked is for the kids. Kids don't care how big as long as they are catching and right now you can catch those little fish on almost every cast!
  8. I believe that would depend on the situation. What they are keying on, etc... If the blue gill, shad and crawfish are all healthy and not wounded or dying, I'd believe that they would eat the crawfish first. Being oppurtunist that they are they are going for the easiest prey. Then again this would be completely hard to know and would depend on many factors!
  9. The day you stop learning something new is the day you need to quit! I'll never guit!
  10. Rebbasser and I do about the same thing. The reason I use real pork in Cold water is becasue in cold water plastic stiffins up more than the pork does. With real pork I'll split the legs all the way up to the body. I believe I get more action out of the pork in cold water, but I like the plastics when the water temps hit in the 50's.
  11. Shoot the cat, then buy a new boat! Can't tell that I hate cats can ya?
  12. Roadwarrior, That's the point I was trying to make but got carried away! LOL! ;D I have noticed that everynow and then, when the lake has had a lot of pressure, I'll go and throw some of the OLD SCHOOL baits that they don't make anymore. Most of it I steal from dad's stuff and hope I don't lose it! I've noticed that when nothing is working I can go to these old baits and pick up fish that I wasn't before. So I do believe they become wiser and more leary about different baits, but no smarter in the aspect of logical thought!
  13. RattlinRogue hit it on the head in my opinion. It depends on the fishes mood. I've seen where if you hit, within 2ft of the fish, with a splash they're gone! I've seen where if you hit right in front of them with a quite entry they're still gone. And vise versa! One time I was fishing with dad. He pitched a salt craw into a bush and the fish LITERALLY caught the bait 6 inchs out of the water. No BS here, the fish jumped and caught the bait well before it hit the water. I've seen them hit it as soon as it hit the water but never jump like that and get it! AWESOME!
  14. Fish don't have the ability for logical thought. They are all instinct. Fish may however become lure wise in a sense! They may become more observent as to what they are looking at the older they get, but they're not sitting there looking at a lure saying, "George don't eat that. I ate one of those 2 years ago and the next thing I new I was staring at this strange creature holding me. I couldn't breath, and could see all of my friends and kin folk lying around, then heard this voice say, Now's not your time, go back and get bigger! Then bam I was back home!"
  15. Man that's a bummer! It would be nice to see it, in my opinion. Do you know how good are the smallmouths in the privately owned waters or is that kept a secret amoungest the owners and the few that get to fish them?
