Slow B.A.S.S.

Recommended Posts

Has anybody ever had problems about the B.A.S.S. responce time to emails and other issues. It took me 9 months to get a membership card after 4 emails that were never returned. Also i called on different occasions and waited for 20+ mins. and never got in. I Think it is because they are in transition, but i could be wrong.Has anybody exsperienced this with B.A.S.S.? I still love the B.A.S.S. but am a little displeased.

The Customer service has been excellent for me. When I signed up for the life time membership there were a few items missing. I emailed them and within 48 hrs I got a reply with the promise that they would get the missing items out in the mail. 3 days later I received the missing items. A few months before that I had lost all of my B.A.S.S. stickers and I again emailed them telling them that I lost my order form and my stickers. Needless to say they sent me 3 new stickers free. Last but not least when I ordered my lifetime B.A.S.S. ring I orderd the wrong size, so I emailed them and they took it back and exchanged it for free and very quickly I might add!!

Over all the Customer service has been great. Oh by the way I've got another story but I'll save it because you get the idea!

I wish you the best of luck to ya!! I hope B.A.S.S. makes it up to you!!

Daniel, I just got my magazine last week and my tackle bag a few days later.  Altogether, after I sent in my check, probably took a week or so.  I would give them a call if they are that slow.  Nice bag though.  Probably a good bag to store your plastics in....

I got mine pretty fast but I hate the book scam they are doing. You will get a box that has free gift on it. You open the box and there is a book in it. The letter goes on to say the COIN in the box is free and the book is 10 bucks or you can seal it back up and send it back to them if you dont want it. If you keep it they will of course send you more books at the Bassmaster price, which I would guess isnt going to be 10 bucks anymore. Come on B.A.S.S., send me a letter and ask me to respond if I want to buy a book, dont send me the book and make me have to tape it up and send it back. You would think they make enough money without trying to pull this crap. I have half a mind to just keep the book and tell them I didnt get any book! I'm sure at that point they would tell me that they wont re-new if I dont pay for the book.

They pay the postage back but since this book doesnt fit in your mailbox I think they should pay for my time and gas to drop it off at the post office.

I've had similar problems. When I first joined, it took about 2 months for my membership packet to arrive and when I emailed them twice with a question about their web site being a couple of months behind, I never got any responses. Unlike Gambler, however, I actually like the book scam. I called their toll free number to ask some questions about future books and, yes, it's true that the prices do go up to around $22 per book (S&H included), but, I really liked the first book and I can send any book that I don't like back postage pre-paid. The books are nice hardcover and when I consider that I pay $15-20 for a typical paperback at Barnes & Noble, I consider the B.A.S.S. scam a pretty good deal.

Dont misunderstand what I was saying. The book isnt a bad book and if you like them I'm sure they will come in handy. As far as the price, I'm sure it is in-line with Barnes & Noble as far as price goes. But remember Barnes & Noble doesnt just send you a book and tell you if you dont like it to send it back. There is nothing at all wrong with the book, I have a problem with them trying a scam to sell them. They know most people wont go through the trouble to send it back and thats what they are counting on. Just seems to me that after all of these years B.A.S.S. should be way past that. They also have a paper called the BASS TIMES. If you noticed they didnt send you a free copy of it because there would be no reason to return it. They only send you an offer to buy BASS TIMES if you want it. They could have done the same thing with the book, but they know the way they are doing it works much better.

I have had no problems with joining B.A.S.S; receiving any promised gifts; nor any problems with the fantastic Bassmaster University program.  In fact, when I bought my Tracker I got a free annual subscription to Bassmaster Magazine and since I already had a subscription B.A.S.S. extended my subscription for another year free of charge! :)

BASS sent me a book once that I had not requested.  I called them, told them that I had not requested the book and didn't feel like sending it back.  They told me just to keep it.  If you are sent unsolicited merchandise in the mail, you are under no obligation to return it.

Gambler,

Point well taken. Sorry if I sounded like I was disagreeing with you. Actually I do agree with you that it is kind of a scam to send someone unsolicited material then expect them to either pay or return it, it just happened to be a scam that I didn't mind too much because I liked the material  ;). But like John in NW PA said, it's the law that that you can keep it. If they send it to you without you asking for it, the risk is on them. Your problem is you're just too darn ethical... ;D

No problem. I just wanted to make sure you knew that it was how they tried to sell the book not that the book wasnt worth it. The problem is, I'm the type of person that will send it back since it isnt mine.

They keep sending me letters telling me I should send the book back so they can pass it on to another fisherman.  I told them I already passed it on, but that wan't good enough apparently because I keep getting the letters.  If Ray Scott had sent me this book (not that he would) I would gladly send it back.  ESPN/ABC/Disney certainly doesn't need te money and they should know better than to try this.
