Gander Mtn in Terre Haute?

Recommended Posts

Anyone in here going to the Grand Opening of the Gander Mtn store in Terre Haute, Indiana this weekend?

If so, stop by and say hello. I will be making the trip over there to work for Yamamoto on Saturday. Sounds like they are going to have a pretty decent deal going on.

I have never been to Terre Haute, Indiana before. Hopefully I don't get lost.

UH no! Just a little to far to drive! LOL!

Maybe they'll send ya down here to the one that's being built in Sherman Tx. Just found out 2 nights ago that Gander Mtn finialized a contract and are going to put a store in here. It'll be great because as of right now I have to order everything I need or drive two hours to a Bass Pro Shop!

89,000 acre lake, Not one single tackle shop that's worth a crap!

If it's in the old Service merchandise building that is Great!  The building is humongous, and it is in a great location.  Right off the Interstate 70 and US 41.  easy to get to and lots of decent places to eat.  I wish I could go there  but it is only 2500 miles from where I live now.  Terre Haute needed something like that.  It really didn't have much in the way of a good sporting good store for quite some time.  Thanks for the info Tommybass.  BTW, I saw where you lived close by, whereabouts?

Based on the fairly new (less than two years) Rochester Gander store, you folks around Terre Haute should find your new retailer a very welcome addition to the tackle buying scene.

So this Gander store is in the same building or across the street from a mall? If so, my wife will love that, but my wallet won't.  lol  Is it a big mall (one that can keep her busy all day)?

Are there any hotels right in the same little area? I would prefer to have something very close to the store.

Thanks guys.

This will be my first visit to the city of Terre Haute. I think it will be about a 550 mile round trip for me.

It is not in the service merchandise store itself, and i cant remember which actual little chain of stores its in, but its right along that side of 41 near the mall (not in it but right across street pretty much), i was so excited to have it there i forgot to really pay attention to where it was.  They are already open but grand is this weekend, its pretty big inside.  Got alot of huntin cloths, guns, fishin poles/reels, TONS of line, select brands of lures, normal stuff like tshirts and what have ya.  There are hotels within a mile or so of the area JT, not next to it but just off the Interstate there are 4 or 5 decent ones.  Able.... I am from around the sullivan area, bout half hour south... im sure you know where it is if uv lived there.  Do alot of fishin in their minnehaha FWA and lake sullivan, plus occasional trips to west boggs over by logotee and patoka and monroe.  Guess we dont have any huge lakes around there but theres definately good fishin

Tommybass, Yeah I know all that area very well.  My wife lived in Sullivan prior to our marriage and she has many relatives there still. Tindalls store there was my wifes uncles store.  My mother in law was a Tindall and they had lots of relatives in the Sullivan, Carlysle, Oaktown areas.  I used to fish some small strip pits south of TH and east off of 46 and 59.  Also east by Brazil.  Anyway, I do miss fishing the midwestern lakes.  I kinda preferred the more dinghy water there than we have out here in Calif.  Water is very clear out here...a little tougher to fish, I think.  FYI, there are quite a few folks on this forum form Indiana come to find out.  Cephkiller is down from around your way and there are others.  Anyway, good luck with your fishing there this year. Please let me know how it goes for you.  I may try to get back there later this summer and do some fishing,, Tight lines!
