This is my first post here and it looks like a really good Forum that gets alot of knowledgeable responses. Lately I've been trying to work on my Flipping/Pitching skills and have'nt alot alot fish doing this technique. I don't know what am doing wrong. I can Pitch and Flip pretty good without making much disturbence on the water. Once it enters the water I Dead Stick the bait for 5 seconds and then lift it about 5-10 inches and let it fall to the bottom and Dead Stick it again for 5 seconds then move on. What am I not getting alot of bites? The bait I'm usuing are Yamamoto 6.5 inch Cut Tail Worms and Sweet Beavers. I've targeted Tulles, Docks, Lay Downs, and Hyacinths and other floating plants.

Fish it more aggressively when it hits the bottom. Shake it hop it as soon as it hits the bottom draw attention to it.

Sounds like you are on the right track-try a real heavy jig.  When that heavy bait goes rocketing past them they will often hit on reflex-a split second decision that they have no chance to get a good look ath the bait.

I would keep switching colors until I got a bite.If you have been doing that already,maybe the fish just arent that tight to cover and not looking for a jig or worm.Try some reaction baits.

Obviously when you dont get bit you need to do something different.Are you sure that there is a good supply of fish up shallow?If they are in post spawn,they wont be on the bank.They'll be anywhere from 5-15 feet of water.....but as I was saying,if they aint bitin',you got to make 'em bite.Get out the reaction baits.Or try some finesse worms worked real slow in just a little deeper water.Keep switchin' until you get bit.

One thing that I throw alot when the bite is tough is a Zoom 4 3/4" finesse worm on a Slider Pro Spider head or the Snagless Pro Slider head.That combo has saved the day for me quite a few times.

Thanks for the advice guys, fivebasslimit, the fish should be finishing up the spawn so I think your right about them not being way in the Tulles. There are usually fish under Docks and have flipped the edges but have'nt got nothing doing that. The lake I'm fishing is Clear Lake in Northern California, I'm sure you've heard of it if you read Bassmasters or anything about the Western guys. It's one of the best lakes out West and is called "The Bass Capitol Of The West".

I agree, the fish are probably off the bank, but not too far.  The docks and the matted grassbeds should hold some fish.

You've got two good baits there, but I would try some jigs and small craws also.  I would also change-up my presentation.  deadsticking is great, but I wouls do some other stuff.  Shake the bait a lot.  Pop-it off the bottom quickly.

If you're fishing matted grass, you need to also fish for suspended fish.  Use a heavy jig or a heavily weighted small plastic craw like a Fat Baby Craw.  After the bait breaks through the mat, real it up to the top then drop it a foot.  Jig it up and down.  Drop it down some more.  Joig it up and down.  Do this all the way to the bottom.  Those fish may be suspended under the grass at some level and may need a bait dangled right in their face.
