Ifyou end up getting a Crankbait Rod you can also throw Topwater and Spinnerbaits on that rod too. My parents think I have to much fishing stuff to. I went out looking for a job but they all said I have to be 16 so I get to wait one more month until I can get a job.

Playmaker,

If you are having trouble with cash. Let me tell you what I did when I was 15. I got a loan from my dad for a lawn mower and a weed eater and started going door to door in my neighborhood asking if I could cut their lawn each week. I started slow with a few lawns. The number of lawns grew and eventually I had to hire one of my friends. Before I knew it I was making some serious cash. By the time I was 17 I owned my own company with three employees and was makeing about 30K each summer.

If you really love your monster, you will find a way to feed him.

Plenty of ways to make extra cash.  When I was 17, I had a "shortie" wetsuit and a bucket of sponges and 3m scuff pads and went boat to boat asking if they would lke their bottoms cleaned. (keep the comments to yourself!)  You would be surprised how many people took me up on it, especially sailboats.

Good Luck!!

playmaker47,

so they wont let me get a new rod/reel for a while and it is hard to get by without a crankbait/topwater/spinnerbait rod. how am i supposed to convince them to let me get one with their points.

Don't try. None of the rookie anglers here in Wichita that I know, started out with all of the gear that they thought they would need.

Wait until you are fishing the tournaments with the gear you have collected. Win one from the back of the boat. Then place the order for your new gear, with the money YOU win.

Now you have proven to them it was not money/points wasted......;D

Right now you should be practicing and getting real efficient with what you do have. I think that if you collect all that YOU think you will need, your going to find that you wind up having to leave some of it home....:o

Sorry for sounding like a parent..... ;)

Good Luck!

sell something, get a job, do chores, let mom/pop know you are really into it and care about it,  if they see its something that keeps you out of trouble,  and that its realy means alot to you, i bet they will help you out, let em see you reading about it and practicing alot.  it'll only help in a long run,  your still a dam puppy lol

you got alot of years left to fish, take it slow and learn all you can first.

take care and good luck.

ps whens your birthday.

I got the same problem. My dad has mowed lawns forever and help him do it and he gives a little money for that and that's the only way I get any of my stuff. I don't have alot but I get by.
