Best lures for the seasons/

Featured Replies

I have got my rods and reels and a handfull of some basic lures:

crankbaits (shad and crawfish)

worms (green pumpkin and black)

spinnerbait (white and whie chartreuse)

jigs (black and black and blue)

topwater (Pop-R and Jitterbug)

I am sure they will catch fish anytime of year but what is the best time of year to use each type of lure?

This an extremely complicated question to answer. I believe the only way of finding out for sure, would be to put the time in, and see for yourself.

Yeah. Now that I look at it, it is a stupid question but being new at this I thought it might make a difference.

Jigs= all year

cranks=all year

spinnerbait= all year

worms= all year

topwater=all year, but they kinda don't get much use in winter but they can be good in certain situations during winter.

They're are not any stupid questions. There is a lot of knowledge here and most of the members are courteous enough to give you a good answer.

Like I used to tell my students. The only stupid question, is the one you didn't ask.

Dont sweat it i asked the same thing - in another post - Got the same answers ( better to ask too much than not enought ... unless your my boss)

He who asks is a fool for five minutes, but he who does not ask remains a fool forever.- Chinese proverb...

All of these work its up to us to find out which one is working best for the present situation..

The others are kind of right, in having to see what works for you.

Here is my .02.

I fish spinnerbaits all year

Jigs - all year, but in the winter I use lighter non-skirted with minnows

crankbaits- I use in spring and summer

plastics- I guess all year, but size and colors will change. I use tubes more than anything. Senkos 2nd

topwater - I'll use when water is above 65-70 degrees / early morning and night

I hope this is of some help to you
