Anyone know which jig is best?  I have used both of them but find that i catch more on the silicone jig but bigger fish on the rubber jigs.  Does one work better depending on time of year or water color?  

I prefer silicone for 2 reasons. It doest decompose, and the colors are bettter. I think fine rubber looks better action wise though.

I prefer the rubber jigs.  I might get only one bite a day on a rubber jig but the fish will usually be larger than three pounds.  I tie my own rubber jigs with extra long skirts to make them appeal to bigger bass.

I prefer silicone jigs, one reason, they stay in the right shape. Majority of the rubber jigs I've fished, the skirts became contorted in different positions after stored in a plano, kinda like a soft plastic slightly changing shape after being in the same position for awhile. Now I don't know if this effects the action of the jig in a positive, or negative way, but I don't like it for some reason.

And all my big bass have come on silicone jigs, but then again they're the jigs I throw most often.

Both! I like to mix the 2 together. I find that the silicone has little action, but hides the hook and naturally blends the head section with the trailer. The rubber flares out more and provides bulk and movement. Here are some that I made with both:

I have started using living rubber more because it flares more and has better action, but it's hard to beat the colors that you can produce with silicone.

Living Rubber = Clear or heavily pressured lakes for me
