Windy conditions

Featured Replies

My lake gets real tough when the wind comes up.  What techniques do you guys use when it gets windy.  Keep in mind this is a Florida Lake, so the only real cover is weeds.

The wind can be your friend in fishing.  Focus on areas near the bank that the wind is blowing onto.  wind can concentrate baitfish near the shores and it helps you avoid being seen by the fish.

Spinnerbaits make a great bait for fishing in the wind. The carolina rig might be another good choice in your area.

When dealing with wind, I find it is better to stick with the confidence baits and fish just like you always would with the emphasis on boat control.

In Florida Rattletrap, jerkbait(on spinning gear or lucky craft on baitcaster), or spinnerbait ;)

I would say a double willow spinnerbait burned around weedlines. Also try a shallow running crank, the Rapala DT-4 and the Lucky Craft B.D.S. 3 are really good ones.

Hope this helps.
